IM BACK FROM PARIS! I conquered the Eiffel tower!! Well, at least the first 2 floors of it....

It was a 48 story climb with 669 steps to take, but we did it, and the view was worth every last wheezy breath.
So now Im back in Singapore jetlagged with sore calves, and man is it good to be able to walk out without facing the blistering zero degree cold!

Today was the perfectest lazy day. Woke up at 1030am, had meepok and discovered some pretty awesome chendol at siglap for brunch, went for driving and came home to find SH and Peanut cosy in my room. We hung around Parkway and had sushi and ice cream, came home and watched Grey's and had more sushi for supper. All on a weekday! With no DM or MicroB lurking around in the back of my head!
This is in such stark contrast to the last 4 weeks of term 2 where every minute spent not studying was a minute spent feeling guilty and uptight. Studying was a pain but having fun was no fun which totally sucked.
I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!! It's time to start ticking the list off!

EURGHHHHH ERUGH ERUGH!!!!!!!!! Im so sick of studying!!! I HATE STUDYING!!! I think I'm kinda immune to all the tests and competencies already. I feel quite comfortable going in to one feeling unprepared. Ah, woe is me, I have betrayed my RJ roots which dictate absolute muggerness for any test, big or small. I laugh at how we used to study like loons for every single lecture test / CA. HA HA HA. Cant wait for everything to be over! We made a list of 18 things to do during the holidays and I Cant Wait to start ticking them off. CANT WAIT.

This is so true.
"A Girl Wants" A guy who comes over everytime she's sad, even if it's late and even if it's too far. A guy who tells her she's pretty, even with her spectacles on and no make-up. A guy who keeps his promises, even if they're small and insignificant ones. A guy who looks into her eyes, not at her body. A guy who gives her little surprises every day, not just the special occasions. A guy who calls for no reason, just to hear her voice. A girl wants a guy who loves her with all his heart, who puts her at number one, who never makes her cry and who is always there, no matter what.
Urgh I hate studying. 8 tests and a presentation in 2 weeks. Craziness at its peak. I can't wait for the holidays to comeeeeeeeeeee.

Not a great day in the lab today. Me and provis just dont gel well, plus I had to retake my impression because I clumsily dropped my cast on the floor while taking my labcoat out. Took the train home after school lugging a heavy book and file, my school bag and a paper bag of mangoes. My stomach was hollow and achy because it was 4pm and I hadnt taken lunch and I was past the rumbly tummy stage already. Got home all ready to crash into bed in my dirty clothes when I spotted a package on the stairs, all the way from England. =) I already knew what was inside before I opened it.
Thanks Becky, for the mixtape. I love it and I'll savour it song by song. It's been a while since we've talked but it's comforting to know that somethings never do change. And even if we grow old and apart, and even if you decide to move to Africa one day, I'll be sure of the little square packages that come from you every year.
Shiny jewelry and pretty new things are great to get, but nothing beats a present that's simple, honest and that comes straight from the heart. This has been, by far, the best present I've gotten this year, and couldn't have asked for more =)

I've never thought much of birthdays. At home, the tradition is, well, pretty much non-existent. Birthdays pass by with well wishes but not much fan-fare. I don't know if its the maturity that comes with age, or the nostalgia i get exiting teenage-hood, but turning twenty this year made me realize that I really am grateful, for everything. Even if school is hectic and I dread the fake-ness and the agendas sometimes. I realize that there is much to be thankful for, my friends, my family, and most of all, you, for always sticking by me and believing in me, even though I didn't in myself.

So. It's been 2 weeks into school. The days seem long but short at the same time and the weekends whiz by in a blink. I blitz through every day and my bed is my best friend. I think I've probably seen more of the lab these 2 weeks than I have in half of year 1 combined. My labcoat comes out of each week streaked with stains of plaster, stone, silky rock and god knows what. On Friday, I found a piece of amalgam in my left pocket. Which reminds me that I need to get a new one. Its kinda gross if you think about it, pulling out the same coat from your locker 5 days in a row.
This probably sounds stupid but somehow I feel more professional with my new geeky lab specs than with the plastic goggles they provided us with, which tended to fog up and slip down my nose.
Tomorrow's another week.

I helped a tortoise cross the road today! No i'm not trying to make a smart comment about slow old grandmas at traffic lights... I really literally Helped A Tortoise Across the Road. It goes like this : I was happily cycling along ECP when I spotted something in the middle of my path so I stopped and there it was, the tortoise! In all its green lumpy glory. It was rather big might I add, like the size of a dinner plate though a lot more green and heavy. I was afraid someone might run over it or something like that so I decided to be a good samaritan and picked it up and put it on the grass patch on the other side. I think I might have shocked it a tiny bit though, when it suddenly stuck its arms and legs out and scrabbled at me abit mid-flight and I screamed dropped it ha ha! But anything's better than getting run over by a 50km/h mountain bike right??
I had half a mind to bring it home for it to live with the kois in the pond but I thought of our last terrapin which disappeared then reappeared briefly after 7 years of being gone (we recognized its markings) and then disappeared for good ever since and decided not to. I wasnt too sure about how Peanut would take to it either... It would be bad if she found something else she's scared of (besides cats, all sizes of dogs, chickens) because I dont think she could take the humiliation.
I put it down and watched it for a bit, just to make sure it was all right and man that thing can move fast! I mean it's not fast fast because I thought it would go at the speed of a garden snail but man those limbs can really move quick.
Yay good deed for the day all done! Although I suspect I might have put it on the wrong side of the road, (which might explain the mid-flight scrabbling) because my dad told me that it probably came form the bird sanctuary nearby (on the side of the road I didnt put it on) and I doubt tortoises live in the sea (side of the road I put it on) but it's the thought that counts!!

So today was banana cake day! I know I've been baking a whole lot lately but you can't blame a girl who's got lots of free time on her hands and a bunch of really ripe bananas sitting in the fridge... Everyone said it was yums. It only took a day and every last crumb is gone! Gave some to SH and family though I highly suspect it'll all end up in all three of his bellies in the end. The icing probably had a significant part to play, because no one says no to butter and cream cheese whisked with heaps of sugar! Uh huh! Triglyceride heaven this is.
Baking / cooking is kinda addictive actually. Every night I find myself online googling recipes like any good housewife would. Next up is roasted banana ice cream! There're still 5 bananas which are threatening to rot if I don't whip them into shape soon. Heh baking pun!
Woa it's late.

Baked pear and walnut muffins today! They were quite good, just that they could've been a tad sweeter. Didn't use sugar at all for these, just a third cup of honey. I liked the chunky bits of pear, like juicy surprises inbetween crumbs of muffin batter :D

The pig is sleeping behind me AGAIN. Pig pig pig pig pig!! He's always sleepy he probably feels sleepy even when he's sleeping.

OH NO just found out that the flight to Amsterdam's been cancelled due to the volcanic ash =( Poor dad looked so disappointed and sad when he broke the news =(
Well at least I can spend more time at home with the family and peanut I guess! Peanut the poor bugger injured her hind leg when SH and I took her to the park last night and she was prancing around this other dog and sprained it. The other dog didnt even touch her -_- We had to carry her back home to rest haha loser dog!!
Looks like there'll be alot more cooking and baking these few days... Just realized that there're only 3 weeks left to the holidays... Got to make full use of every second! Starting this very moment! After this episode of Gilmore! Heh.

Baked Korova cookies today! From my tried and tested recipe so they turned out good as expected, yay :) I have earned redemption from my failed rubbery tasteless chocolate chip muffins from the day before heh.

Pea Khoo wants some cookies too.
Tomorrow I try my hand at cooking! On the menu : Burgers, oven-baked chips and pancakes. Odd combination I know heh. Hope everything goes well...
Slightly irrelevant, but here's a picture of the huge mudpie at coffee club with Hong Kai and Jared on Tuesday.
Pictures don't do it justice!!

Had driving today (which was not bad! The instructor didnt try to touch my leg this time which was a relief) then decided to go get myself a haircut.
There was a queue at the hairdressers so I just took whoever was free instead of requesting for the nice pretty girl I usually go to. And boy do I regret my impatience. I told the guy I got not to layer it too much cos I didnt want to look too cutesy and to just trim the fringe a little cos I didnt want to end up looking like a troll. Just keep the current style but snip off the dead ends - simple enough.
It went pretty okay at first but then he kept muttering that my hair was "very messy, in a sense" and that he had to "layer it more, in a sense" to tame it. Yep catch-phrase of the day. "In a sense" ! So snip snip snip and before I knew it the "long bob" he promised started to look more like one of those shags with wispy ends which somehow plenty of seconday school girls seem to have. Think we all went through a phase. But I guess cutesy isnt too bad, that I can live with. Then came the fringe. I told him to keep it in the same style as before, just slightly shorter, at the brows, and with that, with an almightly Snip he cut a good 2 inches off my previous fringe. I think he knew he screwed up cause he gave a nervous giggle and said he'd fix it so I wouldnt go around "looking silly", and went about layering it, doing fancy scissor kungfu moves and cutting MORE of it off. So now its hovering somewhere 2cm above my brows and oddly enough gives the impression that I went too near to a bunsen burner and got the ends of it burnt off. I totally look like a freak now like no kidding.
It was partially my fault too, In A Sense, because I didnt really try to stop him. He was awfully nice too, in case you got the wrong idea. He told me he'd just moved here from Penang a month ago (my Dad's hometown) and tried to keep up the friendly small talk through out.
So here I am, back at home with a haircut any good troll would be proud of. I stood in front of the mirror for a good half hour just now trying various approaches to my fix : push it to the side, comb it all back, wear a hairband, clip it up, tie it up, and nope, its pretty much a goner. So I'll probably be wearing a baseball cap around everywhere I go from now till my hair grows back... Or maybe a ski mask, since I suppose bits of hair would be sticking out from under the cap. Yep, a ski mask would hide everything...
Okay this entry is starting to sound bimbotic and a tad insane so it shall end here. I should've made a run for it when I first sat down and he told me his name was Desh, as in Bangladesh. (no kidding.)

Omg omg omg omg Woke up at 2 today and its the first time in sooo long I got to sleep till my hearts content instead of having to jump up in a shock looking at the clock. There's zero guilt using the computer / watching 5 episodes of Gilmore at a go heheehhe.
So many many things to do in so little time! Cos now its time to play!!! =D =D =D
Ripped off my classmates blog: word of advise… pls dont come into dentistry if studying ain’t your passion and you would rather die than mug anymore after As.
HAHA. Somehow it doesn't seem that bad now that we're done with all the papers but I will read this and laugh dryly when the next one comes around.

Holy Shit?! I mean, I knew we had to memorize alot but I never knew THIS much was going into my head. Mind you this is ONLY the enzymes, sans reactions, AND this is ONLY for one subject. Probably like 0.2% of all the crap we have to memorize and I'm not exaggerating. I'll be needing a temporal lobe + hippocampal implant to survive Year 2.
Urgh I cant wait for Thursday to come to be rid of all this!!
